FLIP Music’s David Generato signs non-exclusive production deal with Return Records
Return Records has made it known their intentions to corner the Asian music market with their first splash signing of Mark David Generato, the Filipino music producer, songwriter, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. Hailing from a small city called Calapan, where he started to play music at the tender age of seven. Growing up in a church, with his father and elder brother as members of the worship team, he took his first lessons in guitar, eventually leading to also his first drum lessons under his pastor, seeing his potential as a naturally ear-trained musician. In 2011, he started exploring music production after hearing the song “Fireflies” by Owl City, which was becoming a hit at that time. He started reading and studying about it, until 2016 when he bought his first software, thus starting his career. He first went by multiple project names like “Seaside Symphony”, “CityAlive”, “Ostrich Street”, and decided to go by his own name for his projects on Soundcloud. He cites his influences being Owl City, Stellar Kart, Switchfoot, Family Force 5, Coldplay, Mouse on Mars, Galileo Galilei, Sakanaction, Sekai No Owari, and Kasbo, to name a few. He likes reading, taking online courses, and taking walks when he’s not producing music. His music is what he calls “a marriage of the organic and electronic” which seeks to defy some rules, and will surely capture listeners’ ears and hearts, and hope to change some minds along the process. Return Records hopes this will be the start of a new Filopino music revolution in the US market.
