      Managing Director Jonathan brings nearly a decade of experience in the music industry as a jazz pianist, record producer, and industry executive. His works have been signed to numerous independent labels in the US and Europe, and he has toured across the US playing at iconic music venues with Grammy-nominated artists from Arlene’s Grocery in NYC to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In 2019, Jonathan Sherman started, the Music Industry Consulting Practice at Deloitte, where he worked with some the world’s leading music publishers, concert promoters, and streaming platforms, and has since partnered with a performance rights organization to provide music data services to key industry leaders.       Creative Director Anthony Garcia began his creative journey at 19 in Reno, Nevada, managing tours, running sound and AV for the Nevada Art Museum, and hosting shows across multiple venues. He built relationships between local and touring artists, creating a community across cities and states. In Portland, he taught music theory and guitar while performing with jazz musicians. Moving to New York, he taught guitar, performed in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and supported DIY music spaces. Internship Program
Return Records seeks a creative and technically skilled Audio Engineer Intern for Fall 2025 to support music production and live event execution in their Midtown Manhattan studio. The intern will work closely with singers, producers, and songwriters to develop, record, and release music through Return Records and The Orchard.
Key responsibilities include setting up audio equipment, operating digital audio workstations (e.g., Ableton, Logic Pro, FL Studio), and facilitating studio sessions. The role also involves managing recording workflows, collaborating on musical arrangements, hosting trainings, and supporting artist development. Interns will contribute to marketing, recruitment, and label operations while staying current with industry tools and trends.
The position offers a 30% commission on recording hours ($40/hr), travel and meal reimbursements, and requires a minimum of 30 monthly paid recording hours plus 15 weekly office hours. It is unpaid outside of commission and requires proof of enrollment for academic credit.
Ideal candidates should have experience with studio gear, DAWs, signal flow, multitrack recording, and live sound. Collaboration, adaptability, and an understanding of music theory are essential. Certifications (e.g., in Pro Tools, Logic) are a plus but not mandatory.
