J. Sherman Releases “Vegas Nights” LP
Written and Produced by Long-Time DC-Based Producer and Songwriter Jonathan Sherman, J. Sherman’s debut LP “Vegas Nights” is a 12-track story about the artists’ early influences in the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) scene from Washington, DC to Las Vegas, NV. From nights performing at the top of the MGM Grand Hotel and Resort in downtown Vegas to working with prolific Big Room and Hip-Hop producer Jack Lozeron (or JackEL), Vegas Nights pays homage to the likes of Daft Punk, Avicii, and Kygo that first inspired J. Sherman (also known as “RussellRemix” and “RVSSLL” under a former moniker) to build upon his disco and jazz influences to contribute and perform in the EDM scene.
The first track on the record “Be Me” features the vocals of famed teen sensation singer/songwriter Anastasia Malaguti or ZaZa Maree that are layered onto the words of prolific Maryland-based songwriter Emily Behles. The tropical house influences of Be Me demonstrate J. Sherman’s love of downbeat progressive house and become the perfect set-up for the second track on the LP “Bring the Love Back” written and performed by label singer/songwriter Nisha Nandez. Bring the Love Back is a traditional Big Room release influenced by the likes of great progressive house pioneers like David Guetta and Avicii. The third song on the album “See It Through My Eyes” was a previously unreleased record from the vault that builds on the latin and tech house likes of artists like AFTC and David Penn to create a truly moving dance track.
The forth, fifth, and sixth tracks “Let Me Be Good to You,” “Alright Goodnight,” and “Tech House Rewind” are re-releases of previous records written by J. Sherman and produced by Jack Lozeron on his popular label FVYDID Records that rekindle J. Sherman’s Nu Disco and Jackin House arrangements. These lead us to tracks “You Don’t Know Me,” “Basic Funk Formula,” and “Profound Change” (the seventh, eighth, and ninth records) that were all previously unreleased instrumentals with samples from famous funk vocalists of the late 1970s that demonstrate J. Sherman’s evolution from Progressive, Tropical, and Big Room House to Nu Disco and Disco House. This leads us to the tenth and final track on the LP that is a previously unreleased instrumental from Jack Lozeron and J. Sherman that demonstrates their empty to combine Nu Disco with Tropical House in the prolific track “Heaven From Hell.”
The LP also features two raw vocal tracks from J. Sherman’s frequent vocal collaborators ZaZa Maree and Emily Behles. The first is a never before heard track called “Nothing on You” and the second is Emily Behles’ original vocal arrangement for “Be Me” that provide an raw appreciation for the artistry and songwriting that contributes to each of J. Sherman’s records. The LP is out now on all of the major stores including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Soundcloud, and more! Click here to stream on Spotify.
